Canadian employers reveal their hiring plans for the remainder of 2019

A new survey of the hiring intentions of Canadian companies indicates that two East Coast cities are expected to be the among the big winners for job creation over the coming months. The Manpower Group has just released its Employment Outlook report for the fourth quarter of 2019.

Here’s a snapshot of which regions and industries are predicted to see the most robust hiring in the coming months.

The survey of over 1,900 employers across Canada reveals that 15 per cent of employers plan to increase their staffing levels in the fourth quarter of 2019. The good news is widely spread as companies in all ten of the broad industry sectors, in all four regions of the country, expect to hire over the next few months.

Among the cities that stand out for the greatest employment gains are Halifax and Charlottetown.

The report indicates that 30 per cent of employers surveyed in Halifax – fully twice the national average say that they plan to increase staff in the final quarter of 2019. [See jobs available right now in Halifax.]

Nearly the same percentage of employers – 27 per cent – in Charlottetown are also looking to hire new employees in the coming months. [Charlottetown jobs hiring now.]

By contrast, survey data shows that 13 per cent of employers in Moncton, just a notch below the national average, are looking to boost their staff in Q4. [View jobs in Moncton.]

Other cities singled out for the hottest hiring climates include Brampton, ON and Quebec City and the Cantons-de-l’Est (Eastern Townships) in Quebec.

While insiders surveyed from all sectors say they are expecting growth rather than cutbacks in staff over the rest of 2019, there are some industries that stand out.
